Buff City Soap Suds up Growth
Original Article: The Dallas Morning News - August 18, 2026
Walk into a Buff City Soap Makery and you’ll encounter more than a whiff of fragrance. You’ll see employees making products right in front of customers.

We love that Dallas Morning News reporter Brian Womack totally gets how this hands-on experience has helped the company build a following—and expand its lineup! In his recent article, he takes readers on a deep dive into the depths of innovation that sets the Addison-based retailer apart. Customers can watch products being made—and even create their own customized versions.
“People need to experience our brand and our products … to see just how special and unique they are,” said CEO and President Enrique Ramirez.
The strategy seems to be cleaning up nicely.
Buff City Soap has grown from its roots as a soap company into a broader personal- and home-care brand, adding laundry detergent, body wash, candles, room sprays, dish soap, surface cleaners and more. Its newest product, launched in late July, is deodorant.
“We started out as a soap brand,” Ramirez said. “But … we have evolved into a very powerful personal care and home care business that’s definitely led by laundry.”
Laundry has become the retailer’s fastest-growing category, with customers typically replenishing products every four to eight weeks. The company is also investing in e-commerce, which Ramirez expects to approach 20% of sales this year, up from roughly 3% to 4% in early 2022.
After expanding to more than 250 stores around 2023, Buff City Soap pulled back and now has about 200. It expects to add three to five locations this year, with franchisees making up about 95% of its stores.
Ramirez’s vision? “To have Buff in every room eventually.”
For a company that started with soap, that’s a pretty clean plan.
