Blake Freis, the vice president of maintenance at Superscapes, recalls how they first got a foothold at Cypress Waters by handling installations for three of the office buildings. Since then, their role has expanded, with dedicated full-time crews and specialists ensuring the property’s upkeep and growth.

In line with the prominent brands and businesses at Cypress Waters, Superscapes ensures the design remains sleek and professional. According to Freis, the property’s layout incorporates plenty of right angles and straight lines for a clean, structured look, while the landscaping relies on durable vegetation that can thrive through the tough Texas summers.

Maintaining healthy plants at Cypress Waters has been particularly tough for the Superscapes team, with water rationing and poor soil quality posing significant challenges. The property’s high pH levels, clay-heavy soil and extensive concrete areas only add to the difficulty. To tackle these issues, Superscapes performs yearly soil tests and implements specialized chemical treatments designed to gradually improve the soil’s condition over time.

With so many different landscape maintenance needs across various clients and properties, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But according to Freis, strong teamwork keeps everything running smoothly.

“Success really comes down to everyone working together, staying in sync and tackling issues head-on,” Freis says. “It definitely has its challenges, but we’ve built a solid team that communicates well and gets the job done. Plus, we’ve got great communication with our clients, which makes a big difference.”

Superscapes earned a prestigious silver award from the National Association of Landscape Professionals’ Awards of Excellence for their outstanding work on the Cypress Waters project, further cementing their reputation for top-tier landscape management.
